Would I could afford to buy my love a fine robe
Happy things for today:
-I think I'm done with all of my Christmas shopping! I've got things for my dad, brother, sister (wait, I have to place that order), nephew, Franny, Corynn, and Lili. I think I'm chipping in on some family present for my mom? I might knit Yelena a hat at some point, but she doesn't really care about Christmas yet obviously.
-Went to the library today, got "Barrel Fever" (David Sedaris), "Timequake" (Kurt Vonnegut), and "Slaughterhouse 5" (also Vonnegut, obviously).
-Since getting ahold of the Decemberists songs which I previously lacked, I have fallen deeply in love with "Eli the Barrow Boy," "The Culling of the Fold," "After the Bombs," and "Of Angels and Angles."
-I've come into contact with a really sweet, interesting, handsome guy on OkCupid. We've been sending each other absurdly long messages. I can't seem to stop asking him questions. Only downside is that he goes to school in Atlanta (wow --
strawberrysgirl, now I'm wondering if you know him) and lives the rest of the year in California.
-I absolutely adore
rahmbamarama. Everyone is completely insane, but also totally loving and accepting. The Rose/Doctor fandom seems so utterly cold in comparison. This is the first time I've ever felt remotely "liked" in a fandom.
Ok, now on the subject of not-so-happy stuff. My financial situation. It's not good. I have a checking account where I put paychecks and whatnot, and my mom and I also share a joint savings account, which is mostly her money but also contains my scholarship money and a few old checks of mine. She says I can take money out of it whenever I need -- problem is, I've been doing that a LOT. I've never been good with saving my money. I get food from Decafe too often, and I pay for other people when we go out to eat way too often.
As of right now, I am 100% unemployed at college. I've applied to work as an editor for the Review, and also applied to Concert Sound, but I obviously can't start those till February. I hope, I do, that Jack can give me a few hours at the candy store while I'm home. And,
charliesmum, would you want me maybe to watch Charlie after school or any other time you needed it?
I think I'm going to go work on DJ's scarf and watch something.
